Victims Compensation Australian Capital Territory (ACT)
If you have been the victim of an act of violence in the Australian Capital Territory, you may be entitled to compensation for the injuries sustained.
You must advise the Police as soon as possible after the incident, failure to notify the Police within a reasonable period of time could restrict your eligibility for victims compensation.
If the Police believe a crime has been committed and you have sustained a physical or psychological injury as a result of the act of violence, it may be possible to make a claim to be compensated for:
- medical expenses incurred
- loss of earnings
- reasonable funeral expenses in the event the injuries sustained are fatal.
